Our Breast Reconstruction Program

The board-certified plastic surgeons at Plastic Surgery Group are the primary breast reconstructive surgeons for the Breast Health Clinic — a state-of-the-art program that integrates and streamlines the diagnosis, treatment, and reconstruction surgery for women with breast cancer.

In 2010, the Breast Health Clinic opened at the new $300 million Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgical Centre. The mandate of the Breast Health Clinic is for women to receive imaging (ultrasound, mammogram, and/or MRI), biopsy, and diagnosis of any suspicious lump within 21 days.  If a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, the Breast Health Clinic immediately connects the woman with one of the surgeons at the Plastic Surgery Group.

At your initial consultation, your reconstructive plastic surgeon will discuss all your options for breast reconstruction and help you decide which one works best for you. Your breast reconstructive surgeon will work closely with you and your medical team to provide you with a cohesive, coordinated treatment plan. There are two types of surgery which can be used for breast reconstruction: Autologous Breast Reconstruction and Breast Implant Reconstruction. The goal is to be able to offer immediate breast reconstruction for every woman who wants one, while also meeting the tight timeline of urgent cancer surgery.

A Message from PSG

As COVID-19 spreads across the country, our patients’ and our staffs’ health and welfare are our primary concern. To reduce the risk of spreading the virus we are implementing changes to reduce person to person contact. We may only be able to see urgent consults and follow ups. This applies to our offices as well as our clinics at the hospital. If appropriate, our staff may contact you to arrange a telephone appointment. As our senior population are at greatest risk, we will endeavour to reduce their exposure by deferring in person appointments unless absolutely necessary. Regrettably, there is a high likelihood your upcoming procedure or surgery may be deferred. If so, we will make every effort to rebook you as soon as the COVID-19 crisis resolves. We are closely following the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the Fraser Health Authority. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
