Treating Skin with Our Signature Surgical Precision

At Plastic Surgery Group at City Centre, Sciton laser modalities are offered as part of a broader, surgeon-informed approach to skin health. With seven Royal College–certified plastic surgeons and deep experience in both aesthetic and reconstructive care, we understand how skin behaves, heals, and ages over time. That perspective allows us to use laser technology more deliberately, so every treatment is selected with long-term outcomes, not short-term fixes, in mind.

What Are Sciton Lasers?

Sciton laser modalities are a suite of advanced light- and laser-based technologies designed to improve skin tone, texture, clarity, and overall skin health. These systems use targeted wavelengths of light or laser energy to treat specific skin concerns with precision and minimal disruption to surrounding tissue. Depending on the modality, treatments may use:

BroadBand Light (BBL)

A form of intense pulsed light (IPL) that heats the upper layers of skin, stimulating cellular regeneration and improving pigmentation and vascular concerns.

Fractional Laser Energy

Creates controlled micro-injuries that trigger collagen production and skin renewal.

Infrared Light

Gently heats deeper layers of skin to improve firmness and elasticity.

These mechanisms activate the body’s natural healing response, replacing damaged cells, stimulating collagen, and restoring a more even, healthy appearance.

Are You a Good Candidate for Sciton Laser Modalities?

Sciton laser treatments are highly versatile, but they are not one-size-fits-all. Before recommending any modality, your provider will carefully evaluate a range of factors to ensure the treatment is both safe and appropriate for your skin. During your consultation, we consider:

  • Your skin type and tone: Certain wavelengths and settings are better suited for specific skin types to minimize the risk of pigmentation changes.
  • Your primary concerns and goals: Whether you are treating pigmentation, redness, acne, texture, or early laxity helps determine which modality—or combination—is most effective.
  • Severity and depth of the condition: Surface-level concerns may respond to lighter treatments, while deeper damage may require more advanced or staged approaches.
  • Medical history and skin conditions: Conditions such as active infections, certain dermatologic disorders, or a history of abnormal scarring may influence treatment decisions.
  • Medications and recent treatments: Use of photosensitizing medications, isotretinoin, or recent peels/lasers can affect timing and safety.
  • Sun exposure and lifestyle: Recent tanning or significant sun exposure may require postponing treatment to reduce the risk of complications.
  • Tolerance for downtime: Some modalities involve minimal recovery, while others require a few days of healing. Your schedule and preferences help guide the plan.
  • Consistency and long-term expectations: Many treatments work best as part of a series or maintenance plan, so your willingness to follow a structured approach matters.
  • Treatment area: Different areas of the body respond differently and may require adjusted settings or alternative modalities.
  • Overall skin health: Hydration, barrier function, and baseline skin condition all play a role in how well your skin responds and recovers.

In some cases, we may recommend preparing your skin before treatment—or suggest an alternative approach—if it better aligns with your safety and long-term results. Our goal is not simply to perform a treatment, but to ensure it is the right treatment for you.

Why Choose Plastic Surgery Group at City Centre?

As Surrey’s only full-service plastic surgery group, we bring together cosmetic, reconstructive, and non-surgical care in one setting. Located directly across from Surrey Memorial Hospital, our surgeons are actively involved in hospital-based care, including cancer reconstruction and complex procedures. That experience informs a higher standard of safety, judgment, and consistency across all treatments, including Sciton laser modalities.

Our group also brings a broad range of subspecialty expertise, including microsurgery and craniofacial reconstruction, as well as breast and facial aesthetics. This depth of experience shapes how we approach even non-surgical treatments, with a focus on how skin responds and heals over time.

Through our physician-led aesthetic platform, Blueprint Aesthetics, laser treatments are fully integrated into your overall care plan. Patients across Surrey and the Fraser Valley choose PSG for care that is consistent, collaborative, and grounded in experience.

What to Expect Before, During, and After

Consultation

Your consultation is the foundation of your treatment plan. We evaluate your skin, discuss your concerns, and recommend the most appropriate Sciton modalities. Pricing varies depending on the treatment area, technology used, and number of sessions required.

Procedure

While each modality differs slightly, most treatments follow a similar process:

  • Skin is cleansed and prepared
  • Protective eyewear is applied
  • A handheld device delivers targeted light or laser energy
  • You may feel a brief warming or snapping sensation
  • Treatments typically last 5 to 30 minutes, depending on the area

Many treatments are well-tolerated and do not require anesthesia.

Recovery and Results

  • Immediately after: Mild redness or warmth, similar to a light sunburn.
  • 1–3 days: Possible darkening of pigment or light flaking. Most patients experience little to no downtime and can return to normal activities quickly, with proper sun protection.
  • 1–2 weeks: Clearer, brighter, more even skin begins to appear.
  • Ongoing: Collagen stimulation and skin improvement continue over time.
